The countdown has begun and the stores are packed with shoppers trying to get their last minute shoping done, even as the stores have less inventory to sell.
I am lucky to say I finished pretty much all my shopping now and just need ot get the goodies I am bringng to families houses Xmas eve and Christmas day ready. But if you are one of those who still need some gift ideas, then think about these suggestions:
1) E-gift certificates- Amazon and other stores has now offered e-gift cards to customers. Got that hard to buy for prelative or friend? Then grab an e-gift certificate and they can usse it for a variety of places. Heck you can even design one just for them. How cool is that?
2) Books and e-books. Books are a wonderful present to give as they can be enjoyed multiple times. I love giving books at Christmas, especially as I find out what many like to read and pick them up throughout the final months of the year- just have to make sure I don’t get the same one they already have.
3) Pamper gifts- I love getting and giving gift certificates to a spa or to havemy nails done. It is a relaxing thing for that busy woman in your life- be it mom, sister or significant other.
4) Bake something- Homemade cookies and candies are very popular right now as we all deal with the recession in some form. I know I gave the kids teachers a small box of cookies the kids helped make with me for a gift instead of buying them anything. It was gratefully received with smiles and hugs.
Those are just some of my ideas for that last minute shopping ideas. Do you have any ideas not mentioned here?

Hi Raine
Merry Christmas to you and yours!
I LOVE your last minute gift ideas, I’m always rushing around at the last minute too for surprise presents (for those who surprise me at work with a cute token of friendship).
In Hamburg “canned” things (home made apple butter, jelly, jam etc) are given too for last minute gifts.

Raine: I always made the kids teachers ‘Baklava’ for Christmas, it was funny because the teachers would tell the other kids to be nice to mine, ’cause they wanted to be sure & be on the list. It was a huge hit. I love making homemade cookies etc. and they just taste better
Hope you & yours have a very “Merry Christmas”

Gift cards are always welcome as last minute items..I also ask for them as I keep mine until after Christmas sales go on and I can get half as much for the price of just one item. My White Diamond perfume is always half price after Christmas so I get two bottles instead of one for the same price.
Hand and Body lotion is great as who doesn’t need these.I have very dry skin and winter is awful on my hands. Lip gloss is packaged so nice these days that it makes a nice gift also.
Baked goods..yes I feel sure there’s not too many who would refuse baked goods. I really liked your ideas and thanks for sharing Raine. Merry Christmas. susan L.
I always bake for Christmas. Nothing like some homemade treats for that personal touch. Afterall it’s not about how much you spend but the thought you put into it.
If however you have a reader on your list I totally agree on giving a book this year. Ebooks are great inexpensive ways to do that as well.
Merry Christmas!
im all done my shopping too gotta love books for people
A gift certificate to a restaurant is always great. That way, you can treat the person to a night away from cooking on a great meal that they normally would not spend money for on themselves.
Movie tickets or theater tickets are great also. Again, the same reason. In this hard economy, many cannot justify spending money for these pleasures.
Baked goodies are a great last minute gift. I mean, it’s likely you’re going to bake goodies, anyway. Wrap them in a colored plastic wrap, tie it with some curling ribbon, and voila, you have an instant gift!
Happy Holidays!
