This year with all the vampire themed TV and movies it was already a popular topic. You noted Elizabeth Bathory. I just saw a detailed account on what she used to do to her victims.It was quite horrific. She killed over 600 peasant girls...torturing them first in the most horrific of ways and then, as you said, bathing in their blood to keep her beauty. This went on for years until she made a mistake and moved on to the children of other royals and they imprisoned her in a room of her castle until death. She was quite a frightening figure.
