What do you love about being an author? Is there anything you dislike?
As long as I can remember, I’ve loved to write stories and the best thing about being an author is having the opportunity to share those tales. Dislike: Only that I don’t have enough time in the day to write. lol
How do you balance your personal and writing time? Mondays are set aside for me to write. It’s my day off from the day job. During the rest of the week, I also try to fit in a little writing after work. Only an hour or two then it’s family time.
Do you tend to base your characters on real people or are they totally from your imagination? My characters are from my imagination. They may have traits of people I know, but they are definitely their own person.
If you could meet any mythical being, who would it be and why? I’ve always wanted to meet a unicorn. They’re beautiful and graceful, but still powerful.
If we looked on your bookshelves, what would we see? Any favorite authors there? I have six bookcases and not to mention the boxes in the garage full of books. It would take you all day to see what I have. Lol
My favorites have to be Diana Gabaldon. I have all her Outlander books both in print and on CD. I have quite a few of Dean Koontz, Nora Roberts, Terry Spear werewolf series and Tim Powers. I have classics like Frankenstein, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Dorian Gray and other works of Oscar Wilde. One of my favorites is an old 1962 paper book of The Olympian by Guy Bolten. It’s about the romance between the poet Shelley and his mistress, Mary Godwin. I love how Bolten told the story. I also could never part with my books about Ireland—castles, history, Irish wit, and all.
You get to meet a paranormal Creature of your choice with no safeguards, what would you choose and why? A shapeshifter, a nagual (jaguar), which are the spirit guides of the dream realm and in the realm between life and death.
Hmm…there’s just something about a beautiful, strong cat that fears nothing and is willing to protect, too.
What do you got coming in 2010? Any upcoming release(s) you want to shout out about for the last part of 2009? If you love shifter stories, December 2009, Moon Shifter will be released at Wild Rose Press. The Mac Tíre are an ancient clan of werewolves from Ireland.
Blurb:
It is forbidden for a moon shifter of The Mac Tíre clan to change a human and save them from death. Grayson Quinn, the alpha of the pack ignores the ancient rule when Sydney Carlisle, his fiancée is ravaged by one of his own kind.
Sydney believes she is a monster, a werewolf. She flees before Grayson can help her adjust, but Grayson must find her. Sydney’s body is still changing and the were-lust will drive her crazy if not sated. He has until the full moon to help her tame the wolf inside and convince her she’s his soul mate. If he fails, he loses her forever.
Sydney still craves Grayson’s touch, but can her heart forgive him for making her one of the Mac Tíre?

Time Travel Historical Romance
Zachary’s mouth dropped open and he stared at the woman before him. If it hadn’t been for the boot slamming against his skull, he might have thought he dreamt up this alluringly beautiful image before him. Her hair was long and deep auburn, almost the color of autumn leaves with all its gold, brown, and orange blending to perfection. She had it pulled high above her head with some kind of bow that constricted it from falling down. His gaze lingered over her face, mesmerized by her clear sun-kissed skin with just a hint of freckles sprinkled across her nose. Features of an angel, but her attire would tempt a saint to do wicked things. His eyes rested on her dark garment, which hugged her in all the right places. He felt his body respond to every luscious curve revealed to him.
Where did this intriguing woman come from and how did she happen to be in his room? He’d locked the door before he went to bed last night, and he must still have the key in his possession, or else the woman would have fled by now. “Who are you?”
“Who am I?” she sputtered. “Who are you?”
She was a defiant little chit. Under other circumstances he would have admired her spunk. He crossed his arms against his chest. “Since this is my room and I hold the key to your freedom, I suggest—”
The woman let out a deafening scream and charged toward him. “Hell and damnation.” Before he could react, she grabbed his arm and flipped him, slamming him to the floor in one fluid move. His six-foot, one hundred and eighty pound frame lay there like a rag doll. He stared up at the ceiling with what he knew could only be a stunned expression plastered to his face. How in the world did this little slip of a woman flip him over her shoulder?
“It really worked! The self-defense class really paid off.” The woman spoke, her voice laced with amazement over her accomplishment.
He rolled his head the side to look at her. “Who are you?”

Hi Karen and welcome to my blog. Thanks for being here.
I love the premise for the Mac Tire book. Is this a series and if so, how many books do you plan for it?
Raine D.
Thank you Raine for having me here today. The Mac Tire book isn’t set for a series. Grayson’s sister, Bailyn may have her own story. I’ve playing around with some ideas for her. You can bet you haven’t heard the last of the Mac Tire.
Loved the blurb and excerpt. Karen, I’ve never read, or even seen, any books by you. But you have me intrigued now. I will be checking out your website.
Sandie
Sandie,
I’m glad you were intrigued. (It was my evil plan by the way.) lol
Thanks for stopping by!
