Can you tell us a little about how you started writing; was it something you have always wanted to do?
I have always been in love with writing and reading. I owe this obsession to my wonderful mother who to this day can read a full novel in twenty four hours. In my younger years I was content to read as many paranormal and historical romances I could get my hands on. Then I had a dream. I woke up and couldn’t get it out of my head. When I went to see a wonderful movie called ‘Romancing the Stone’, I knew what I had to do with my dream and started writing.
Who or what has been your biggest influence as a writer?
Kathleen Woodiwess and Anne McCaffrey are my two ultimate favs. Their writing styles are so different, yet they each paint such wonderful and powerful stories.
Your work is very popular with readers and reviewers; how does it feel to have such positive recognition for your work?
Awesome! As a writer you hope the movie in your head comes out to the reader as you see it and when people read your work and are moved emotionally and are happy then you know you succeeded.
What do you consider to be the key elements of a great story?
The hero and the heroine. If you have a great couple the story builds around them and only enhances the chemistry.
Could you tell us a little about how you develop your characters? Who has been your favorite character to write? The most challenging?
My favorite is Setti from Curse of the Scarab King. I loved how he helped me develop his personality, the nobility of which he led his life, how he loved those he cared about. Now, my most challenging is in a WIP. Sin is a very complicated man, forced to do evil to survive and yet somehow I am fighting him from being such a control freak to developing a personality which he can find redemption. Stubborn male vampire!
Please tell us about the projects you are currently working on; what can readers expect to see in the coming months?
I am splitting my time between the 2nd installment of the Borne Vampire series and a new trilogy. The first is a Roman-Briton, the second book is in the Dark Ages, and the third is after WWIII the rebuilding. I had hoped to get them done for this year, but setbacks have made it more for next year. Still, the year is young, miracles have been known to happen.
Hollywood came calling and asked for one of your books to be made into a movie. Which one would you choose and who do you see playing your characters?
Blood Keep. I would love to see Gerard Butler play Nicolas and Kristanna Lokken for Isabella.
Summertime…sun, heat and tans. What is your favorite Summer time treat to snack on?
Oh, my. My favorite has to be a Mocha Moo-Latte from Dairy Queen. Love those darn things!!!
Where can readers find more about you and your books?
Currently my website is down. Fingers crossed I can get it back up and running very soon. As is, I have a my space page– www.myspace.com/wendpetzler and through my publishers, New Concepts Publishing and The Wild Rose I have bio pages.
For fun: You are able to meet one character from any book, who would it be and what would you do?
<
I would love to meet F’lar from Dragon Riders of Pern series. Love that man. I would love to be a Queen Rider and impress a golden dragon.
Sneak Peek into Whisper to Me:

BLURB: Trembling from terror and the mind-numbing cold, she jumped when the vampire reached for her arm again. She tried to fight him, but he shook his head and pressed a finger to his mouth, silencing her. Reluctant to be close to a real vampire, she saw the tremors he could no longer repress. Mariah scooted over to him and leaned against him, offering what warmth she could. When he drew her into the shelter of his arms, she was surprised when he gently rubbed her arms, to get feeling flowing through her own frozen limbs. Mariah felt small and defenseless compared to him, unsure of his motives. Freaked that his hot, sticky blood was soaking through the back of her coat and the fact a real vampire was holding her, she turned to her dogs. They remained strangely quiet as they lay, watching the woods. From the heavy loss of blood he suffered, she knew he was weakening, needing to replenish what continued to leak out of his untended wounds.
Wary, Mariah looked up at the vampire. The hunters would eventually backtrack when they failed to find their prey. Her only hope for survival was the vampire, and he was in dire need of blood. And she knew just how he could get what he so desperately needed–hers.
What if this was to be her last night? Sad, Mariah realized it had been years since she was kissed or had made love, or been in love for that fact. Looking up at the handsome visage of the vampire, she thought, what the hell, I’ve got nothing to lose.
“Stranger, we have a dilemma. I can’t carry you back to my cabin, but you can get us there safely.” Swallowing hard, she continued, “I will give you my blood … for a price.” The vampire’s dark, fathomless eyes widened.
“What do you want?” the vampire demanded suspiciously.
Before Mariah lost her nerve, she whispered, “a kiss.”

Hi Wendi,
Thanks for coming on by and sharing your latest release with us.
Is there a genre you haven’t tried to write yet but want to in the future?
Raine D.
I love talking about my books, anytime, anywhere. I would love to do fantasy, something a little more off the beaten path.
