The Amoveo Legacy by Sara Taney Humphries

The Top 10 Reasons Romance Heroes Rule!

One of the questions I get asked by people is…”Why write romance novels?” To be honest, I probably write them for the same reason I’ve read them. They provide a great escape.. However, as the author you really get to delve deep into what makes people tick. It’s a trip. The key to a great romance novel, of course, is a hot and sexy hero. Let’s be honest….no one wants to read a romance novel that features a balding, fifty something guy with man boobs. Remember, this is supposed to be an escape from reality for women. Let me also clarify one other thing–my husband is awesome. He’s adorable, loving, tender, and romantic…but he also leaves his socks in the middle of the floor and like most men seems incapable of putting that cap on the toothpaste. Hence the escape from reality into romance novel land. So this got me thinking about what separates a “Romance Novel Hero” from our everyday heroes? After quizzing some of my girlfriends…here’s what we got.

10. They never leave laundry in the middle of the floor….right next to the laundry basket.

9. They do not perform bodily functions as though it were an art form.

8. They do not have annoying or irritating family members anywhere in the free world.

7. They can cook a 5 course meal AND do the dishes.

6. They can send your body into overdrive with one look.

5. They make great use of Foreplay….a lot.

4. The heroine can never do any wrong in his eyes…well if she does he never stays mad for more than 5 minutes.

3. They are hotter than Hades. Yummy.

2. They are masters in the bedroom and always point out that no other woman every could our would satisfy them again. Ever.

1. They make their heroine feel as though she is the MOST beautiful and desirable woman on the planet.

When I look at this list, I must admit…it makes me smile. You know why? My real life hero fits the bill pretty well overall. Most importantly, he’s got #1 nailed down to a science.
