Please share with us your path to being published. How long did you write before your first book was published?
I got a lot of rejection letters. I was at it a couple years before my first book was accepted. From the time I wrote Black Calla to the time it was accepted, around 7 years. But I wasn’t constantly submitting during that time. I took some time off to do other stuff then came back to my writing.
How many books did you write before the first was published?
I wrote a lot of shorts, but nothing full length.
Who was your first publisher? What was the name of your first book?
Black Calla was my first book. That was originally accepted by Mardi Gras, just before they went under. After that it was taken in by Red Rose Publishing.
Have you ever finaled or won in a writing contest? If so, which contest(s), which book(s), and which year(s)? Do you feel contests are a good use of your energy and time? Would you recommend that writers enter them? Why or why not?
Nope. I think if you’re doing it for fun or possibly to challenge yourself it’s ok. At least that’s why I do it. As for a good use of time and energy. I think if you use it to challenge yourself then yes. Anytime you push yourself to try something new it’s a good use of time/ energy. Over all I think it’s up to the person entering.
What is your favorite animal, real or mythical and why?
Oh that’s a hard one. I think dragons would have to be my favorite animal. I know not real original, but I like them. There are so many varieties and ways to use them in stories.
If you decided to no longer write, what would you do instead?
No idea.
What are your best promotion tips for other writers? What works best for you?
Promotions…uhh. I’m not really good at the promo thing. Guess the best tip would be keep at it. Just keep plugging your work where ever you can. Groups seem to work the best for me. You can post, check back reply,\ and get a pretty big audience.
Where do you get your ideas for your stories?
Everywhere.
Where are you published? Where can readers contact you?
Red Rose Publishing & Lyrical Press, Inc.

Sneak look into Mistress of Tiethla:
With a groan, Alex rolled over. God, she had one hell of a hangover.
Her eyes flew open as she realized that one, she hadn’t gone out last night, and two, she was lying on grass. Sitting up, she looked around. Trees surrounded her, and she sat in a small clearing with the leather tome beside her. A brook bubbled off to her left, birds twittered in the trees; higher up there was a scream from something she’d never heard before.
“Keep calm, Alexandria Konner. You are not the type who freaks out,” Alex told herself, following it up with a couple deep breaths. Okay, so what happened? The last thing she remembered was being in Professor Harris’s office with the necklace, the book and the lights. Could it have been some sort of trick? Harris somehow drugged her and then left her out here after… No, he wouldn’t have.
She ran her hands over her clothes. They weren’t screwed up and her messenger bag was still over her shoulder. So that was out.
Her train of thought was interrupted by a large bird landing a few feet away. Jumping to her feet, she moved to see it better. It was like no animal she’d ever seen before. Alex’s eyes widened as she got a good look at the creature.
“No. It can’t be,” she breathed.
