A Love Beyond Time is from Book III of Song of the Muses. Here’s the Blurb.

Cursed for mocking Aphrodite, the goddess of love, Clio, muse of history and her lover are thrust back in time to the Salem witch trials and then the Italian Renaissance. Only love can save them both, but is it enough? Is their love A LOVE BEYOND TIME?

I had so much fun with all the various mythological creatures in this tale. You’ll have to read it to find out but several very popular creatures, good and bad pop into this story and wreak havoc on poor Clio and Pierus. And then there’s Dionysus. He’s a main character throughout and was such a show off, I’ve decided to show case him in the second series of Song of the Muses.

·     Care to tell us a little about the person behind the author name? What do you do for fun when not writing?

I’m a mother of three beautiful children, two girls and one boy, ranging in age from 12 years old to eleven months so when I’m not writing, I’m busy with my little ones. We love to go to the park, take long walks, cook together, blow bubbles and play in the sprinkler when it’s hot outside. My DH and I love to snuggle and watch movies while sipping red wine and we still adore the occasional outdoor rock concert…that is if my mom can babysit.

·     The holidays are coming. What is one of your favorite holiday traditions and why?

By the time this is published we will have enjoyed another Halloween! My kids have so much fun dressing up, carving pumpkins, making a gingerbread haunted house, cooking pumpkin soup, baking pumpkin seeds and trick or treating…almost as much fun as their witchy mom!

We also love Thanksgiving…ahhhhhh, I love waking up to the smell of the annual bird cooking in the oven and who doesn’t love stuffing their face and lying around all day?

And Christmas is so much more lovely seen through the eyes of my babies. I need to finish my baby’s Christmas stocking so we can stuff it full! Every year we drive to the rich side of town and look at their Christmas lights with Christmas carols on the radio. This really puts us in the mood!

·     Paranormal and Urban Fantasy are very popular genres right now. Is there a genre you enjoy but haven’t written yet?

Hmmm….well, I’ve written magic realism, paranormal, fantasy, urban fantasy, thriller, romantic comedy and vintage historical romances. The only other genre I think I might enjoy writing is horror. I’d love to try something totally opposite of what I’ve written so far without the HEA rule.

·     If someone were to play you in a movie, what actor would it be and why? Charo, without the accent. Does anyone remember her? I was told over and over growing up and I still get it today…that I look like her…lol!

·     What comes first: the plot or the characters?

For me, usually the plot comes first and the characters explode onto the scene and they are all so pushy!

·     When you looked in the mirror this morning, what was the first thing you thought?

Why did my baby wake up at 5 AM? I look old today.

·     We popped in for a spell and opened your fridge, what would we find there?

Homemade chili, tamales, queso, guacamole, steaks, Dr. Peppper, blush wine, white wine, beer (red wine is on the counter-room temperature), ham, eggs, milk, butter…shall I go on? And in the freezer…popsicles, vanilla and chocolate ice cream, peach frozen yogurt and granola berry frozen yogurt…gotta cover all the bases.

·     You are awarded three cabana boys/girls and you can choose anyone (Celebrities, characters, etc). Who would you choose and why?

Dolly Parton for her fun loving attitude and just so I can listen to her talk and laugh, Susan Sarandon just seems like she is a blast and Cher so she can sing for us and we can talk lingerie….now wouldn’t these three ladies be a hoot!?

·     You got a celebrity for 15 minutes, who would you chose and what would you do?

Clive Owen…do you really need to ask what we’d do?

A sneak look into A Love Beyond Time:

“Well, no. I suspect you won’t believe me, but I can tell you things about yourself that no one else knows and how else would I know of your…your mole,” she stammered.

“Hmm…I wonder. For a moment I thought you held some kind of significance, something akin to magic seemed to flow between us.” He shook his head, clamped his palm over his eyes and rubbed them with his fingers. “I’ve had too much wine, inhaled too much of the hempseed. I need some fresh air.”

“But don’t you need a model?” Clio asked, afraid he’d dismiss her and they’d be separated yet again. She didn’t wait for his answer. With quick, shaking fingers, she untied the corset and let it fall. She stepped out of it, and stood there in stockings and nothing else.

Giulio groaned out loud. “I suspect I could paint for awhile. See if you inspire me.”

A fire grew deep within her belly and a mischievous grin curled around her lovely face. “Oh, my lord…I can definitely do that for you. It’s what I do best.”

Giulio wasn’t listening. He was already gathering his brushes and paint. He grabbed two flickering candles and moved them closer. “I need the light to be perfect. You have such skin. So flawless. Turn around.”

Clio did as he asked. He ran his hand over her hip, dipped his head down and found her bottom rib. There it was. Just as he’d remembered it. A pair of tiny, black moles, diagonal. He took a deep breath.

“There is something about you…so familiar.”

            “Mmm.”

            “Turn around. I shall paint.”

And so he did. With brilliant, broad strokes. The paint mixed so perfectly, he never paused to think of how much of one color to add to another. He knew her coloring, how the shadows would fall on each curve. How he knew this, he had no clue, but he knew this would be one of his loveliest nudes yet.

Thanks for having me, Raine! Oh yes! The muses will be back in 2009 with nine more tales of romance and adventure! My next muse tale will be titled, Wine and Feathers, about Dionysus, god of wine and Peisinoe, a winged siren.
