ANSWER:      My latest release, Highland Muse, is part of the Song of the Muses Anthology by The Wild Rose Press.  In it, my heroine, Melpomene, Muse of Tragedy, falls in love with a mortal, a sixteenth century Scottish Royal.  If you like a mixture of tragedy, humor and a happily ever after ending, this story is for you!

ANSWER:      Raised in New Hampshire I’ve always adored writing.  I’ve a passion for Ireland and Scotland and can’t seem to stay away from those countries when writing my stories.  When not writing I’m usually busy with my three year old son or reading a good book!

ANSWER:      Hmm, for me, it’s decorating the tree at Christmas.  I play my favorite Christmas carols and enjoy sifting through ornaments that hold sentimental value.

ANSWER:  Yes, definitely, Regency Romance.  I’m a softie when it comes to an English Duke, Earl, Viscount, etc..  Do I think I can pull it off?  Time will tell!

ANSWER:      Hands down, Nicole Kidman.  I’d be honored if she played me.  I think she’s versatile, talented and graceful.

ANSWER:      It’s a mad mix for me.  Sometimes it’s one, sometimes the other.  Typically, it’s the plot first.  In the case of Sylvan’s Mist, a character had the whole story form around her.  Same thing happened in Highland Muse!

ANSWER:      Great question!  If I were to be completely honest it was that I needed both a haircut and to pop into Amazon.  Why Amazon?  The first printed book in the Song of the Muses Anthology print book will be available very soon (Highland Muse is in it) and I was wondering if it was there yet.

ANSWER:      Wide smile.  A lot of milk!  1% for me and whole milk for my son.  I would so like to tell you loads of fruits and vegetables but that would be such a fib.  I have more condiments and salad dressings than any human should.  In addition, left-overs (never more than one to two days old!) and whatever meat I may be defrosting that day!

ANSWER:      I know I should answer this more fashionable in that I’m a writer and mom but I’m also a woman!  If you rolled Gerard Butler (Movie 300), Goran Visnjic (Dr. Luca Kovac on ER) and Tom Brady (my home team quarterback for The New England Patriots) into a bundle…you would have my perfect cabana boy, celebrity and book character all in one.  Why would I choose these men?  Need you ask? Grin.

ANSWER:      I have to choose!  I guess I would choose the one man I didn’t list above…Sean Connery…he’s beautiful, beyond talented…did I mention the Scottish accent?  Why would I do it?  Because I truly believe he would have some interesting and insightful things to say.  He’s Sean Connery!

 Sneak look into Highland Muse:

Her gaze traveled down to his plaid. “I like that you went into battle dressed differently from your comrades. That you fought dressed in your war plaid.”

He’d not become frustrated or swayed. “Answer my questions, lass.”

Melpomene cocked her head and her eyes traveled slowly back to his, made him feel as though he stood nude before her. She smiled, coy; her thick lashes half-mast. “You’ve naught beneath that bit of wool do you?”

Rowan ground his jaw and willed his loin to desist. “What was in the wine your brother, Dionysus, gave us to drink? For I’m sure that’s why we’re here.”

Her hand shot out and fingered the plaid halfway down. Her eyes remained veiled, intent on his attire. “If this chafes me, it surely must chafe you.” She gave a glorious smile, teeth straight and white. Her eyes met his. “Does it chafe my Laird? Shall I soothe you?”

He breathed deeply and narrowed his eyes—prayed for guidance, strength and will power before his growing arousal became blatantly obvious. Time to switch tactics. “Lass, it’s only fair you give me some answers, aye? In that you love me as you say?”

Too late. His kilt was pillowing and rising. Damn.

But he was a warrior. Warriors didn’t flee at the first sign of defeat, they fought. So he held his stance and glared down at her.

“You’re right.” Melpomene bit the corner of her lip and arched an eyebrow. Her grip on his plaid tightened just to the right of his burgeoning. “It is only fair I answer you.”

Her hand shifted slightly, teased but did not touch. “It was the wine. You see, Dionysus can free one from one’s normal self by madness.” Her doe eyes swallowed his. “Ecstasy.” She sniffed delicately. “Or by wine. He can bring an end to care and worry.”

Rowan didn’t move. Nor did he focus on her ever nearing hand. “So Dionysus freed me from my soul?”

“So to speak.” Melpomene trailed her hand along the pleated plaid that surrounded his front waistline. “And through such transported you here.”

Thanks so much for having me, Raine!

Yep, I’m already working on my next muse story which will be part of the muse anthology coming out in 2009. This time it will be a contemporary with close ties to Highland Muse, smile. Let’s just say that some of the more prominent characters from Highland Muse will make another appearance!

As to the next round of muse stories, I’m honored to be working alongside the same fabulous authors from 2008 and can’t wait to embark on another incredible literary journey with you all!

    Always,
    Sky
